GF Thanksgiving & other types of Pies
Ciao GF fans and welcome to the end of November,
Here in the mountains it has been a long fall with the mega-storm Helene, an election, and warmer than usual temperatures. Then Wednesday at the market a windstorm arrived, bringing PTSD as we tried to vend with 40 mph winds whipping tents, overturning tables and settling frigid winter air in over all of us.
I’d rather just think about baking right now…
With Thanksgiving around the corner there’s plenty of baking and cooking to keep the mind on the here and now. Winter is coming and it gets dark early. But for many of us friends and relatives are arriving, bringing their light and a sign that it’s time to gather around long tables, eat good food and enjoy sustaining GF offerings.
Pre-Orders for Wednesday are open if you are local and want to order now; we have your favorites plus a few new holiday offerings available.
You’ll notice we don’t offer three of the Thanksgiving “classics”: rolls, stuffing and pie.
HOWEVER, we do have some excellent sweet things: Our famous Golden Milk breads, our honey-sweetened spiced Nonnettes (see previous email), and double chocolate sourdough bread (not pictured).
AND, let us suggest an alternative to “rolls, stuffing and pies” We have round olive & rosemary focaccia and XL frozen pizza crusts! (You can make the connection…round focaccia….pizza “pies”…right?)
Bring a toasted up olive & rosemary focaccia to the table instead of rolls or stuffing and start a new tradition. It’s fluffy, salty, tangy and matches just about anything.
Once your Thanksgiving festivities wrap up and you need a break from turkey, bake up a pizza crust with all your favorite toppings. Nothing beats the smell and taste of a well-done pizza!
All our usual offerings are available on the website: large loaves and boules etc to make GF life that much better because they have both energy and taste.
So, our best wishes this Thanksgiving holiday; we do give thanks and are grateful for each one of you and the privilege to continue baking and bringing you bread that sustains and encourages through these shorter days and long nights.
